Example of some of our Tours on offer
Cape Guru designs each tour according to your needs and interests. There are so many delightful things you can do in the Cape, and these can either be short day tours or longer tours, taking a few days.
Here are some examples of tours we have put together:
The Wine and Food Fundi Tour:
3 to 5 Days with visits to small, boutique vineyards owned by interesting personalities. You get to meet the winemaker, walk through the vineyards, taste wine in the making (during harvesting season) and of course sample the finished product. The farms we choose are in interesting areas and we choose the best routes to get you there. Of course we also visit some of the Cape’s best restaurants and we get to sample local cheeses and locally produced olive oil, and even locally produced chocolate.
The Bucket List Tour:
This is a tour for thrill-seekers, with a choice of activities such as bungy-jumping the World’s highest bungy jump, swinging though the trees on a zipline, horseriding in a game reserve, skydiving over the Indian Ocean, kayaking, surfing and caving. It can be as long as you like, based on how many activities you are up for, and how far you wish to travel.
Hiking the best spots of the Cape:
For those of you who want to get into the Wilderness, we offer hiking trails into the Cape Fold Mountains. The Cedarberg, Groot Winterhoek, Groot Vadersbos, Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope National Park, but also further afield in the Drakensberg mountains of Kwa Zulu Natal, are some of the places where we arrange hiking tours.
Surfing Safari:
Beginners start with a surf lesson on the beach at Muizenberg, followed by an hour in the surf with a seasoned surfer. Experienced surfers get taken on a tour of some of the Cape’s most scenic beaches to find the perfect wave.
Cycling Tours:
We provide the bikes (usually mountain bikes but we can also hire road bikes if you prefer to stick to tar) and take you on the journey of a lifetime, with spectacular mountain passes, breathtaking scenery, and interesting places to stay along the way. The cycling tours are tailor made according to your fitness levels and the season.
Cultural and Art Route Tours:
There is incredible talent in Cape Town and surrounds, and we can put a tour together which encompasses sightseeing and beautiful scenery as well as visiting artists’ studios, allowing you to meet the artists, see them at work, and buy their products.
Township Tours:
Contrary to what many visitors think, visiting a township is not dangerous, and the people who live there do not see your visit as being disrespectful at all. Most of the people who live in the townships welcome overseas visitors and are enthusiastic about showing you their homes and neighbourhoods. South Africans are incredibly open-hearted people, and very hospitable. You will learn so much more about South Africans if you do visit a township. Usually our visit includes going into someone’s house, a visit to a local bush doctor, and a visit to a shebeen to sample some of the locally made beer.
Swimming Tours:
Cape Guru Tours encourages swimming at local swimming spots. There are numerous tidal pools and lagoons along our coastline, as well as idyllic mountain pools, and dams where one can have a good, long swim to refresh after a hot, dusty journey. These swimming spots are safe, not overcrowded, and you would never have found them without our help!
Natural History Tours:
South Africa is a veritable wonderland of natural diversity. Apart from being home to the world’s most species-rich floral kingdom (the Cape floral kingdom) and about 20% of the world’s bird species, there is also an abundance of fauna, marine life, insects and fascinating geology. Cape Guru Tours takes this natural heritage into consideration when planning a tour, which means you will experience not only that which is immediately apparent to the eye, but also the smaller details which all adds the richness of the total experience.
